Oui oui champagne brunch at Bistro Francais in Georgetown
We headed back to Georgetown to check out Bistro Francais right on M Street. We had a pretty good group of six people and didn't really need our reservation as the place was not even closed to being packed, which was surprising due to their $21.95 Champagne Brunch.
Drink/Brunch Specials: For this, I have to paste in what I put in my bberry notes, as I am pretty sure I was already a few glasses of champagne down, "Menu for the 21.95. Champagne brunch was small and random other entree items. But everyone else at table says that is frenchy but I am in america so give me freedom brunch where I can choose whatever I want. It's all savory no sweet...where are the crepes? Where is the french toast?" I don't even think I would think that up...I must have been quoting someone.
Champagne was free flowing for 21.95 - 'nuff said.
Drinks: Nothing else worth commenting, see previous sentence.
Food: The stew was excellent and tender but the accompanying rice was supposed to be basmati and while it definitely wasn't we couldn't decide what it was. One theory was Uncle Bens with saffron, while Brett decided it was more like Goya's spanish rice.
The benedicts came out with freedom fries, which surprised Lindsay but I though they were good. I don't know if I have ever met a fry I didn't like.
Someone decided their salad was "the frenchest salad ever," but for the life of me, I have no idea why we decided that - champagne was kicking it. We thought the comment was very funny though - guess you had to be there.
Brett was pleased that the waitress was very concerned about her food allergies and for this reason, she was able to enjoy her meal without wondering what the chef/cooks had overlooked.
Service/Environment: Service was a little slow to get our order, but after our waitress spilled Steven's champagne, she was super fun. And again - kudos for the food allergy concern.
The atmosphere is somewhat quiet even though it is bottomless champagne and in Georgetown. We decided it was because the decor was pretty stuffy (french) and the crowd was tres old, therefore not attracting Georgetown's more well-known rowdies.
Repeat? Hmmmm....if I was wanting to do a Georgetown all day drink-fest and didn't want to deal with college students, then yes. If I had fam or friends in town, would I pick here? Probably not with all of the other options. I would do Peacock before Bistro Francais again.
By the way, their website was so ghetto I couldn't steal any good pics off of it - so sorry for the ugly blog!
