The Chophouse is a "cut" above their chain competition!
I think it is official...I am the worst blogger ever. Where do people find the time? I mean, I have old movies to watch and cry through, random pointless internet surfing in which I neither buy or learn anything and ocd checking of my emails - my days are packed! I finally decided to procrastinate driving the whole five miles to my new apartment in Exile, MD, where I may or may not have a wireless signal depending on the "at home" status of my neighbors, and to break into blogger mode. Perhaps part of my delay is that NO ONE reads my blog and therefore, I know masses of fans aren't ocd checking my blog for updates and finding nothing, similar to my email checking.
So, back in the day, like July, the crew (all 3 of them) headed out to the District Chophouseto try "chain" brunch. A fearful thought, I know, but these are brave DCBCers and their courage paid off! While, sadly, I was unable to attend this trip as I was grieving over the end of the Harry Potter series (So? A lot of adults like Harry - it is not strange, but strangely addicting,) Ann's review definitely paints a different picture from what I would have imagined!
ANN'S REVIEW:
***7/22 Brunch at District Chophouse***
I’ll admit that I was a little concerned when I walked in to the empty restaurant and my steps echoed throughout the empty room as I looked for Dana. At least the background music was good old school jazz and there was no chatter from customers to ruin it.
The staff was quick to greet me (I guess they weren’t really doing anything else anyway...) and directed me to Dana sitting in a booth near the back. The waiter promptly appeared and asked me what I wanted to drink. I ordered an iced coffee and Gionathon (insert from Erica - when I first read this, I thought she was saying she ordered "an iced coffee and a Gionathon, which I assumed was some cool swanky liquer. I was a little upset to realize that it was, in fact, not a cool new alcoholic beverage) swiftly brought the drink with an additional cup of coffee “on the side” as he thought the iced coffee might be a little weak and I may want to add more coffee. (I loved him immediately!!)
Service is probably one of the most important aspects of the perfect brunch to me, and Gionathon was a star! He brought us fresh warm cornbread when I arrived (replacing the one that had since cooled). When I ordered the salad (that had lots of things in it like fruit an walnuts that I wanted nothing to do with) Gionathaon asked BEFORE I had to say anything, if “...there is anything in the salad I wanted to take out and if I preferred the dressing on the side...?” Dana ordered an omelet and wanted a salad instead of the potatoes, Gionathon replied, “fruit or green?” (No eye rolling, no attitude...) Dana had the rosemary ham omelet and liked the fluffy eggs and even distribution of filling. My salad, I think it was the Chophouse Salad, was great and was very fresh and crispy!
Kevin joined us a little later and he was not as jazzed as with his Crab Eggs Benedict. The sauce was a little too gelatinous, but there was a good-sized serving of crab and the spicy side potatoes were very good! We decided that the bloody marys were as good if not better than Axis and that we may have to do a bloody mary Sunday where we compare a number of places back to back in a sort of “bloody mary brunch crawl.”
For a chain restaurant this was really quite good. I think it would be fun for a big group as they have a lot of seating and it just feels like one of those kind of places!

What do you mean no one reads your blog? I was beginning to think you gave up on the whole idea. - RG

Very, very helpful! I actually went here with a few friends one Sunday morning and we all really enjoyed ourselves.
